I finally watched Confessions of a Shopaholic The Movie a couple of days ago. My opinion of the movie? kinda disappointing.
Well, having read all the books I am not really impressed with the movie. Firstly the storyline is much different than the books. Of course the movie version usually different than the books but it doesn't suppose to have too many differences!
What's with the Gardening magazine?
The character of Becky Bloomwood whose supposed to be english?
The talking mannequin?
The childhood background of having a mom who likes to shop in thrift stores? I thought her mom likes to shop by the catalog.
Then what about Luke working in Succesful Savings? That's really odd. And Derek Smeath? That's really too much!
Plus I don't really adore what she's wearing too, I imagined Becky would have had a better fashion sense than that.
Then secondly, I think there's something wrong with the cast director. Isla Fisher is kinda okay (although in my head I always thought that Becky Bloomwood has dark-colored hair, maybe a dark brunette) so I think there must be other actress who could play Becky's character more precisely. Meanwhile I thought Suze should be blonde.
Then all the rest of the casts are "so far away from the book".
I mean, come on.. the guy who play Tarkie? Is the cast director doesn't even read the book? Tarkie is not supposed to be looking like that!
Becky's parents? So not even close!
Luke Brandon? I thought he was supposed to be this organized neat businessman with a clean eligible bachelor look but Hugh Dancy doesn't seem really right to play Luke's character. Well, the accent is a score but his overall look in the movie is kinda messy like he only had bath twice a week. A successful businessman doesn't look like that.
One more thing, Alicia bitch long-legs. I think her hair should be longer. And why does she even there when she didn't do anything bitchy to Becky at all (except for stealing Luke to have dinner in Miami). I'm thinking she should be the bad character in the movie instead of Derek Smeath. It would be nicer to watch a cat-fight between Becky and bitchy Alicia in the movie while Derek Smeath supposed to be Becky's friend in the end (just like in the book).
Well, it's just my personal opinion. There are other parts of the movie that I actually like but the whole picture just doesn't seem right to me ^o^ That's all, just wanna share my opinion of the movie...
Oh one thing I noticed in the movie is a studded high-heeled ankle boots that Alicia wore. I thought those shoes were very gorgeous. I found a pair from Steve Madden that's similar with the one she wore.
I'm lovin' the shoes. I think it's one hot item.
It would look great in a party. If I had one I would wear it with this outfit. ^__^
