As a blogger I like to write about something new and unique that I think my readers would love to know. I like sharing new things and I also love finding new inventions that would make our life easier or that would pop a question in our head: "now why wouldn't i think of that?". So browsing the internet and finding new products, especially that related to fashions would simply make me happy. One of those newly invented thing that i just found lately is the Bra-Barrette, the simple little thing that could change our life.

"The Escalator Tragedy" :
I was in the supermarket's escalator when my hubby who was standing behind me made some hand gesture code that translate to "honey, your bra strap is falling off your shoulder and about to show under the sleeve" (I was wearing a rather transparent blouse that day). I was browsing the Costume Institute at the Met yesterday and found some of her works which I think is awesome! I admit I may not be one of those fashion experts people who know every designers and every tidbits that goin' on in the fashion world history so the name Madame Grès, although I'm sure I've heard it before, is not really familiar to my ear. So when I finally found her designs I'm quite upset with myself because I can't believe I just found her out! She has the most fabulous designs especially her dresses, I really love her style !
If you're like me and you didn't know about her until now, here's a little of her story:
She was born Germaine Emilie Krebs in 1903, later known as Alix Barton. At first she wanted to be a scupltress or a ballerina. She first started as a milliner, then in 1932 she opens "Alex Couture", her first fashion house followed by "Alix Barton" in 1934 where she designs under her own name "Alix". And then in 1942 she launched her design house under the name Grès in Paris.
The name Grès itself is the partial anagram of her husband's first name and alias. Her husband is Serge Czerekov, a Russian painter who signs his paintings with the name Grès.

Her royal clients included the Duchess of Talleyrand, the Countess Munose, Princess Matilda of Greece, Lady Deterling, Lady Mendl, the Duchess of Windsor and the Princesses of Bourbon-Parma as well as Jacqueline Kennedy, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo and Vivien Leigh.
Her signature was cut-outs on gowns that made exposed skin part of the design, yet still had a classical, sophisticated feel. She was renowned for being the last of the haute couture houses to establish a ready-to-wear line, which she called a "prostitution".
Vogue's History of 20th Century Fashion edited in 1988 named her "the greatest living couturier". Many awards and titles were also attributed to this great fashion designer.

Other than her french "Haute-Couture" fashion house she also has an associated perfume house called "Parfums Grès" which still exists today unlike her fashion business which she sold in 1984. One of her legendary perfume is "Cabochard".

Her designs were inspired mostly by the distant lands such as greek goddesses, chinese pagodas, japanese origamis to india's saris and iconic archangels.
If I were a socialitè back at her time I would love to be dressed by Madame Grès from morning til dawn, from Sunday to Saturday.

Madame Grès is officially one of my favorite designer now. It's just too bad she's now been forgotten while her designs were truly exquisite. Well, anyway here's my highlight of Madame Grès designs (My Favorites) :

When it arrived I remember the package smells really nice from the outside! Yes it's true, I could smell a very pleasant fragrance coming out of the "still sealed" box !! And that makes me want to open it right away. I thought, if I could smell this nice scent from a sealed-box then the actual products inside this box must smell really heavenly!
And yes, indeed. The pleasant scents come from the herbal soaps! Oh I'm such a sucker for natural/organic sweet smelling soaps, I couldn't wait to try it.
Later on when I finally tried these 2 soaps I fell in love with it. I use the Rosemary Mint in the morning because of the fresh minty scent that's good for stimulator (it also great for muscular and mental fatigue) and I use the Lavender one at night when I got home because the calming scent of Lavender is said to reduce stress, insomnia and all those negative energy. You'll feel relax and ready to sleep after using it. Mermaid's Purse have many variety of herbal soaps, I feel like I want to try them all ^o^

Actually what I tried first when the package came is the Naturally Healing Lip Therapy, and oh-my-goodness this lip balm is THE champion of all the lip balms that I owned. You see, I'm also a sucker for lip balms, especially when it has a bit flavour to it. I've tried many lip balms and currently using 2 lip balms. But when I tried this ginger citrus one from Mermaid's Purse, I got hooked-on immediately! This must be the most soothing and satisfying lip balm I've ever encountered. It doesn't leave that greasy feeling to your lips and it doesn't give you shine or that weird white residue like the one I'm currently using from a well known brand. It also moisturize my lips for long hours and doesn't leave me with a chapped lips by the end of the day. They also have it in peppermint and tea tree. I TOTALLY love this product and would officially abandoned my 2 previous lip balms for this! Nuff said.
The second thing I've tried was the Energy Shampoo Body Wash. The smell is so unique and yet very refreshing, a real bad-mood buster if I must say. This Shampoo Body Wash is PH balanced for all hair and skin types, loaded with scalp benefiting essential oils and Botanical Extracts. The Lemongrass scent is very uplifting, I came out of the shower with a fresh skin, unbelievably smooth, feels re-energized and the scent lingers in my skin for many hours afterward! One thing I really notice is that my skin never felt so fresh before!
My hubby also tried it as a shampoo. He said it felt nice in the scalp and love the smell as it's different than all the shampoos he ever used.

Now on to the Body Butter. Of all the body butter variant in the store I got to try the Jasmine one. Body butter is great for dry skin, I let my mom tried a small dose because she has a really dry skin and I thought I'll put this body butter to the test. Surprisingly my mom said that she could see a difference in her skin straight away. Her skin instantly feels soft and moist without feeling greasy at all, she then ask me for more ^o^
This body butter is made of exotic oils, natural Vitamin E, Cocoa and Shea butters which all of them are really great for your skin, consider them your skin's food. The first time I smell the recently-open jar I couldn't smell the Jasmine so I was hesitated a bit but when I use it on my skin the sweet jasmine scent suddenly diffuses and I'm quite taken by the scintillating fragrance. I'm really surprised. The formula also seems to give you a glowing skin because one night my hubby suddenly said to me "your skin glows" just when I finished rubbing this body butter all over my legs ^___^

My Second most favorite product after the Naturally Healing Lip Therapy is the Java Junky Coffee Scrub. Oh I don't even know where to begin as I really love this coffee scrub! For a start, I LOVE coffee, and the smell of it. I once tried a coffee herbal soap and loved it so much but this coffee scrub from Mermaid's Purse is beyond it! The smell is really terrific! And surprisingly it makes you hungry somehow when you smell it, at least that's what happened to me, my mom and my hubby ^o^ The scrub itself is great to the skin, it exfoliates, moisturize, and reduce free radical damage to your skin cells. I love lathering and scrubbing it off my skin while in the shower and it leaves my skin really soft and smells like heaven all day! I swear, the smell lingers for hours and hours, loved it! This one is a must-try!

Now comes Fall and it's time to bring out your scarf and shawl collections again. Summer is finally over and although we only have two seasons here in Indonesia (Summer & Rainy Season) but we like to dress like it's Fall here ^o^ Scarfs are great for early fall when you still wanna wear your summer clothes but needs something to fight the wind and the cool air. When the weather gets more chillier then all you have to do is just change to a wider and thicker shawls.

One of my favorite accessory is scarf, there are quite many styles of scarfs but my favorite is a thin longer one that I can wrap around my neck like this dark navy scarf that I wear a lot. I also love the colorful version and the metallic color version of this one.
I wear this scarf with everything. I've worn it with tees, blazers, jackets and tanktops. It really is versatile. You could wear it loosely, wrap it one time, wrap it several time or tucked it into a bow.
Of all the Scarfs available in the market I prefer the knitted ones because of the feel of the fabric and the way it falls nicely on my torso. The thin and lean shape also match our weather here which is not too cold like winter.

When I was working a nine to five day job I usually plan the 5 days work outfit on the weekend before. Does it sounds a bit weird to you? Well I know I'm not alone on this ^o^ Kasmira of What I Wore Today also does the same method of outfit planning. Here's my reason: "because I don't usually have a lot of time in the morning to prepare my outfit."
A random fact about me: I'm not a morning person. So my alarm goes off an hour and a half before I must left for work. Continued with a half hour snoozing and then finally woke up then make my morning coffee and head to the bathroom. So that only leaves me a half hour to get ready, with all the make-up to do it's just impossible for me to prepare the outfit in such short time. That's why I always planned ahead ^o^ All I have to do is just grab the outfit sets which was meant for that day.

And now, ever since I worked from home sometimes I miss that weekly routine. So I played with Looklet again and plan an outfit for a whole week! Here's what I might wear in a week's time:

MONDAY - where all the hectic starts ^o^ Internal office meetings, deadlines, weekend emails, unfinished tasks from last week, etc.

As you might already know from my previous post, I've recently been putting a lot of interest in "World Saving" and "Eco-Friendly" campaign. So I'm up for any natural products, from beauty stuff to fashion and accessories. They also cover men rugby shirt, hooded sweater, polo-shirt, baby one-piece, baby rib hat, even panties and thong! Yep, that's right. Organic panties and thongs for the Eco-friendly ladies! I need to give a thumbs up for this company's various organic fashion items, you should see the organic baby romper (or some of us called it one-piece or onesie), it's so amazing that you could actually get your babies to join the "world saving" campaign with you and your whole family.

Aside from the wide selection of their organic cotton clothing range, I also took note that they also excel in T-shirt printing. They have done t-shirts printing in quantities from 20 to 200.000 pieces. Their clients include : Amnesty International, Hanes, Fruit&Loom, WordPress, and many other big companies (see list of current clients). So I guess their service must be that good and professional to have big clients like that. I notice their price is quite affordable too and you can choose whatever type or styles from the clothing range and whatever it is that you want to be printed in the clothes. They would serve whatever you desire. If you need some customized printed tees for your group or company then you know where to come to. Their T-shirt printing method is "screen printed" rather than transfer or digitally printed which although they're quite good but they're not as good as screen printed.

I once almost purchased a customized print shirt online but I'm not satisfied with the clothing options and they doesn't have many options there so I canceled my order. If only I knew about indigoclothing.com right then...
