The Best & Not-So-Best Dressed : Oscars 2012
9:58:00 PMJanuary through February is the award-busy months in Hollywood. After my take on the "Best & Not-So-Best-Dressed" list of the Grammy Awards a while back, now it's time for another "Best & Not-So-Best-Dressed" list of the biggest Hollywood red carpet event: The Oscars.
The annual Oscars event (also known as the Academy Awards) were held in Kodak Theatre, Los Angeles, a few days ago. It is the 84th Academy Awards and the red carpet has been better and better every year! This year it's really hard to decide which ones that I have to put in the list because there were so many gorgeous and beautiful look on the Oscars, pfiuhh...
But, I gotta do it for the sake of this blog, so here it is... My version of the Best and Not-So-Best-Dressed of the 2012 Oscars / Academy Awards event :
First up, is the Best Dressed
My 1st place :
Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab
I've been contemplating on whose gonna make the big three on my list, it was so hard to choose but I think I managed it quite well in the end. So after looking back and forth to some gorgeous looks in the Oscar, my number one choice goes to this goddess-like look of Milla Jovovich. I love Milla because she has a very beautiful face that you can't simply explain how beautiful she is. And her face always looks good in camera, her poses are always perfect, and she can definitely rock this lavish Elie Saab dress like a true goddess.
My 2nd place:
Ellie Kemper in Armani Prive
I finally decided to make this look my number two on the list. The gorgeous color of this sparkly wine dress from Armani matches Ellie's beautiful red mane. And the gold accessories also brings out the best of the dress. The makeup and hair are also perfect and it makes an overall stunning look on Ellie.
My 3rd place:
Stacy Keibler in Marchesa
Having George Clooney in your arms is one of the best accessory, but even without George in sight, Stacy would stand out in the red carpet with this bronze number from Marchesa. The elegant color and the alluring shape of this dress looks splendid on Stacy, she looks very statuesque in this dazzling gown. Her hair style also perfect with the style of the gown. Total muse alert! And the Runner Ups are:
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad
This look actually received mixed favors on other websites, but for me this look really rocks! This is very J-Lo and she sure knows how to rock it. The make up and hair style also bring this look together. J-Lo couldn't be sexier in Zuhair Murad.
This navy blue gown is specially custom-made. Carolina Herrera exclusively dressed Tina Fey at this year's Oscars. And this classy gown totally make her one super pretty lady on the red carpet that night. Not to mention those dazzling blue Bulgari earrings that she had on! Stunning.
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
This also receives mixed favors on other websites, but to me this look is simply enticing. Gwyneth is known for simple neutral dresses on red carpet events but this one is rather different. Sure it's another simple neutral-color dress, but this one has great cutting and additional cape that she wore as accessory! The hair style and nude makeup with the addition of only one glittering jewelry bangle make this dress not just another ordinary white dress.
Giuliana Rancic in Tony Wards
When I saw Giuliana in this dress, my jaw dropped a little bit ;) She looks absolutely stunning in this delicate Tony Wards gown. The gown fitted her shape perfectly, and all those sparkling details are so glamorous, love it!
Merryl Streep in Lanvin
Merry Streep is looking fabulous here in this gold number by Lanvin. She don't usually end up in Best Dressed list on red carpet events, but this time I'm gonna let her have her chance to shine by putting her up on the Runner Up list - (I will forgive the sneakily peeking bra this time ;p)

And let's not forget,
the Honorable Mentions:
the Honorable Mentions:
Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli
This look on Emma also has mixed favors on other websites but I personally kinda like this look on her. She looks very statuesque to me.
Leslie Mann in Roberto Cavalli
Love love love this Roberto Cavalli gown. The royal blue color looks enchantingly beautiful with those rich sparkly detailing on the bodice, and the light train just added some more marvelous effect to this dress. If only she did something different with her hair, this look could go up in my runner up list instead.
Li Bingbing in Georges Chakra
Not everybody can wear white gowns without looking too much like a bride, but Li Bingbing is one that can sorta pull it off.
Louise Roe in Black Halo
This uniquely constructed dress is worth to mention here. Love the unique detail of the dress.
And last but not least,
the Not-So-Best-Dressed:
the Not-So-Best-Dressed:
On the Grammy Awards there were a few looks that's made it to the worst dressed list, but on Academy Awards most of the attendees seems to be more ready and all-out, hence a very few of worst dresser. And from that very few options, only one that I think should make it to my Not-So-Best-Dressed list this year.
Sherri Shepherd
Mmm...what's up with the peeking bra? If there's no bra in sight, she wouldn't make it to the Worst Dressed list.
I mean, if you're not confident enough to wear a gown with deep plunging neckline then why don't you pick other gowns, right? Right! ;p
