Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint
10:42:00 PM
It's time for another Korean makeup review, and this time it's brought to you by one of my trusted sponsor: KoreaBuys.
They sent me a couple of things this time: several sets of Etude House Juicy Cocktail Nail Polish and two shades of Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint. In this blog post I'm gonna talk about the Fresh Cherry Tint first.
There are a bit of a craze on lip colors here in the beauty world so it's no wonder that I was pretty excited when I found these Etude House Fresh Cherry Tints on my KoreaBuys package to add to my lip colors collection.
These are actually the newer version of Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint. I have tried the older version before, when they still had the old bottle packaging, so I was very curious with this newer version of Fresh Cherry Tints from the ever so popular Korean brand: Etude House.
If you don't know it yet, a Lip Tint is a bit different than a lipstick. A Lip Tint is a stain-type lip color = it leaves a stain on your lips once it dries, so it's supposed
to lasts a bit longer than a lipstick. A lip tint also have a more
subtle shade than a lipstick so the color would create a more doll-like
look compared to a lipstick.
Now let's talk about the super cute packaging. As always, Etude House always comes up with a cute packaging, and you know I always appreciate a good design. I fell in love with the designs from the first time I laid my eyes on the box.
The box has a really cute design which
looks pretty and ( I think) is a bit vintage. I really love the new box
design with a graphic of the bottle which also resembles the
shade of the lip tint inside.
So as you can see from the packaging, I received one bottle of an orange shade and another bottle of a pink shade. The shades that I received is the OR201 and PK001 - which I think both are suitable for most skin tones.
Oh by the way, I still have the older version of the Fresh Cherry Tint and the photos below are just for comparison. The left bottle is the older version and the right one is the newer version:
I personally prefer the new design than the older version because I think the new version looks more elegant than the older one. Anyway, in terms of the texture and formula I think they're about the same and still maintains their good quality even though they changed the packaging.
Korean makeup usually consists of a flawless face with minimal makeup, focusing only on the skin and a doll-like eyes. That look is usually completed with a neutral lips which sometimes is achieved by applying a lip tint.
A popular Korean makeup usually have a pale lip color with just a little bit of color stain in the middle area of the lips to achieve that porcelain doll look. To get the look you can apply a lip primer or a little bit of foundation on your lips to make it look pale, and then you apply lip tint just on the middle of the lips to create a stain. You can also apply a layer of lip gloss once you're finished. This is a very popular Korean look which you can find from Korean stars or Korean makeup advertising.
Now let's get back to the Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint. I really love both the colors they sent me. The OR201 is a peach orange shade and the PK001 is a pastel pink shade.
If you see the bright colors on the bottle and on the applicator don't fret because the true shade is not as bright as the color in the bottle, it's a lot more subtle and less vivid just like most lip tint does, but they do leave a really nice stain on the lips.
the colors from the applicator:
the colors when freshly swatched:
the colors when it dries up:
And these are the stain color that would be left on your lips once they dried.
And now let's see them on the lips, shall we?
Here I applied the lip tints all over my lips while concentrating on the middle area to show you the real color of the Fresh Cherry Tint on my lips:
Left: Before / Right: After
The OR201 / Peach Orange shade |
The PK001 / Pastel Pink shade |
The Peach Orange leaves a more natural finish on my lips which makes it look like my own lip's natural color. While the Pink one is a brighter color than the orange one, leaving my lips with a pink-ish hue that "stained" my lips for a more naturally cheerful look.
When freshly applied it's a bit glossy at first, but then it dries up into a matte stain which surprisingly doesn't dry up my lips. I usually still applies some lip glosses to achieve that "fresh" look, but you can totally getaway with it without a lip gloss. If you have dry lips, don't forget to apply a lip balm several minutes before you apply the Fresh Cherry Lip Tint to allow your lipbalm to dry on your lips first.
The stain lasts for several hours, and I still see a little bit of stain left after I eat or drink something, so I think it's pretty good. If you want to make sure that the stain would lasts longer then try applying a couple of layers during first application. I usually apply 3 - 4 layers of Fresh Cherry Tint to make the stain lasts a bit longer ;)
You can buy Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint on Korea Buys for IDR 79.200 - and it is currently available in three shades. The items are Ready-Stock locally so if you buy it through KoreaBuys website then you will have to pay for local shipping only ;)
So have you tried the Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint before?

@Icel: really? Try using lipbalm a few minutes before, or try putting on a lipgloss afterward, maybe it helps with the dryness..
