ETUDE HOUSE Real Art Cleansing Oil - Light

4:07:00 AM

Hello, how are you guys doing?
If you remember I received my KoreaBuys package a few weeks ago and I have reviewed the Etude House Mini Me Shinee Be My Princess Perfumed Mist in Ms.Bloom in a previous post. And now it's time for the next review ;)

Above are the products from my KoreaBuys package and today I will review the Etude House Real Art Cleansing Oil in Light.

There are several types of this Etude House cleansing oil (based on skin types) but I chose the Light version which is suitable for normal, oily, and acne-prone skin. Since my combination skin has been on the oily zone these past few weeks so I decided to try this version instead.

It comes in a purple packaging with a purple bottle inside that comes with a separate pump. Etude House always come up with cute / unique ideas on their product packaging. The outer box is (as usual) written in hangeul but there is a little bit english on the side of the box. Here's what it says in english:

"This lightweight cleansing oil effectively removes makeup and impurities inside pores without a greasy after-feel. Infused with sebum-controlling and soothing Lavender oil, this cleanser is ideal for normal to oily skin types and acne-prone skin."

This is also dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, with no parabens, mineral oil, ethanol, artificial or animal derived ingredient.

For you who would like to know the ingredients, here's the list that I found on the plastic box:

The bottle itself is not as big, it is a 200ml size bottle with a medium box shape. On the photo below you will also see that the bottle is transparent with a shade of purple and a white lid/pump.

As I told you earlier, inside the box you can find the plastic bottle with the actual product along with a separate pump. So you have to open the original lid and put the pump dispenser into the bottle. I think this is pretty neat, because you can actually bring this if you're travelling by putting the lid back on and bring the pump separately inside the plastic bag it came with.

After you open the lid on the bottle and put on the pump dispenser,
the bottle would look like this:

It also comes with a lock-in system which is a stopper that you put on the neck of the pump so that it would lock it from pumping the product out. You can travel with this product by putting on the stopper or you can also put back the lid and bring the pump separately as I told you above.

Oil cleansing method is very popular nowadays, but we in Asia mostly used generated cleansing oil from cosmetic brands instead of using and mixing oils by ourselves. This is not my first time trying on cleansing oil to wipe away my makeup. Honestly I was hesitant at first because I'm afraid cleansing "oil" would just add the oiliness of my already "oily" face. But boy was I wrong.

A good cleansing oil should not add any oiliness at all even if you have super oily skin. Apparently, oils can dissolve oils, and our skin naturally has oils in it, so this cleansing oil actually helps lift up those dirty oils on our face along with makeup, dirt and excess sebum that clogged our pores. Cleansing oil would also help dissolve makeup because mostly there are some oils in makeup too.

There are now many options of cleansing oils on the market especially in Asia. One of them is this Real Art Cleansing Oil from the popular Korean brand Etude House:

The texture is almost the same as other regular cleansing oils which is a transparent thick liquid with a runny formula. Don't imagine a cooking oil because this is not as sticky as that ;p

Here's how I used it to clean makeup:
- Put a few pumps on my palm
- Rubbing it a little bit on my palm before putting it on my face (without water) > put on dry face
- Spread the oil all over my face
- Rub it around on my skin so it dissolve all the makeup especially mascara
- Wet my fingers a little bit and then rub my face again with my wet finger (this helps to dissolve it even more and lift out those dirt and makeup residue)
- Finally, wash it all off with water

I learned that method from my previous experience with my first cleansing oil and I believe that it is the right method to use it ;p So far, I achieved great result with that method and the cleansing oil works wonderfully for me. My makeup would be gone in just seconds and my face would be clean again afterward. I also find that I don't need to apply moisturizer anymore because this Real Art cleansing oil doesn't dry my skin at all.

Below is the step-by-step review that I made to prove the good quality of this Etude House Real Art Cleansing Oil - Light:

 Before:
After putting on the cleansing oil:
 After rubbing it around:

After rubbing it around with wet finger:
(see the difference, wet finger can dissolve that orange eyeliner above)
After washing it all off and wiping it dry:
Everything's gone except for a little bit traces of black eyeliner above, but the eyeliner is a thick and waterproof one so it is harder to remove anyway

Overall, I really love this cleansing oil because it's able to remove my makeup thoroughly. At my first try-out I used a toner + cotton pad after washing my face with this cleansing oil and found no residue left on the cotton pad, so that proves how clean my face is after using this cleansing oil alone. This cleansing oil is also suitable for normal to oily skin as well as combination skin like mine.

Sometimes if I had heavy eyeliner that day I would use eye makeup remover first before cleansing the rest of my makeup with this cleansing oil. Also, if I wore thick foundation or thick BB Cream that day then I would use this cleansing oil as the makeup remover (to clean my makeup) and then continue with my usual face cleanser (to clean my face) to make sure that I got rid of everything. Remember, sometimes a facial wash can't clean your makeup because it's just a facial wash and not a makeup remover. If you use a lot of makeup you would want to double cleanse to make sure that your skin is really clean.
