[2016] JANUARY Empties
1:53:00 AMWow, it's been months and months since I wrote my last Empties post !
Currently I'm trying to diligently use my existing products again, especially skincare products, because I want to start a new skincare routine. I've been taking up skincare crash-course lately and I can't wait to start a new routine, but meanwhile I wanted to use up and empty my existing products first before I'll start a new routine (see my skincare routine Here).
So anywhooo...
Let's talk about Empties now, shall we?
I will also make an upcoming post about the new products that I put into my daily rotation in order to replace these recently finished products. The replacement might be new products or they could also be some old products that I've been putting up on hold.
Now let's start with the Empties for last month (January) :
Etude House Sweet Heart Body Mist
I had this body mist for so long. I usually go fast with body mist / body spray because I love them and use them every day. But that did not happened with this one. Maybe because it's a creamy body mist instead of a regular one. This has a thicker consistency so it's not watery at all. It almost feels like you're spraying body lotion/cream onto your skin. This might be suitable for colder / winter season (or maybe for very dry skin) because of the thick creamy consistency, but I live in the tropics so a creamy body mist just doesn't work for me. Recommended? Probably for those with dry skin or for winter season.
Nivea UV Extra Whitening Body Lotion
This smells good and contains camu camu and acerola cherry that are rich with vitamin C for that brightening effect you're looking for. This was my favorite body lotion for daytime especially when I will be doing outdoor activities because it contains SPF15. Recommended? Yes.
Watsons Honey Treatment Shampoo
This is a huge bottle and it lasts me for many months! I got this on a whim at Watsons without knowing whether it would be good or not. In the bottle it says that it's meant for dry or permed hair but luckily it works well with my hair (dry scalp, oily strands). This smells alright, and the texture is nice and lathery. It's affordable too, considering how big the bottle is. Recommended? Yes.
Soap & Glory Hand Food
This is one of the most-hyped product from Soap & Glory but honestly I think this is not that special (sorry). I love love love the scent and the formula is light and absorbed pretty fast to my skin, but that's just it. I mean it didn't do any miracles to my hand. But I still love it anyway :) Recommended? Why not.
Victoria's Secret Pure Seduction Hydrating Body Lotion
As I have mentioned in this blog before, I prefer the scent of the old version of Pure Seduction. This newer version is too sweet for my nose while the older version smells just right, a balance between sweet and floral. Nonetheless I like the slightly thick texture of this one especially for night time when my skin is usually more dry. Recommended? Yes for dry skin.
Rexona Whitening Dry Stick
I always prefer dry stick than roll-on deodorant because I don't like the wet feeling from the roll-ons. This one is okay although a bit drying, I must say I prefer the other variants.
NuFace Whitening Facial Mask
I realized that I have too many sheet masks that I rarely use, so lately I'm trying to use them up. This is a drugstore brand sheet mask that I sometimes bought for a little treat to my skin. This mask has vitamin E & anti-acne properties as well as anti-oxidant. I'm not really fond of this one because it has chemical smell. This one is also not as wet as the other variants I've tried before.
Purederm Kiwi Yoghurt Pack
This is not a sheet mask but rather just a regular mask that contains collagen, vitamin E, and yoghurt extract. The texture actually resembles a real yoghurt and it smells like a fruity yoghurt too! I love putting this on. It has skin softening and brightening properties. It also said to help increase skin elasticity. I put this on as an extra treat in one of my skincare routine and quite enjoyed it.
Valenno Papaya Lightening Exfoliating Gel
This is actually my first experience with exfoliating gel. The texture is unique to me. Physical exfoliator usually comes in scrubby particles, while this one has a gel formula. But once you put the gel on your face and rub it off in circular motion with wet fingers the gel would dissolves into dry scrubby particles. I can actually feel it sloughing away dead skin and dirt from the surface of my skin. I really enjoyed using this gel exfoliator and now I have another one which is the SkinLab Gently Vita Exfoliator which is basically the same but maybe better. Recommended? Yes.
ROC Demaquillage Actif Skin Toner
I love this toner especially when my skin is dry because this toner is meant for dry skin. I enjoyed the light formula and texture which re-hydrates my skin after cleansing process. It's simply a no-fuss toner that you can use to clean the last traces of makeup after cleansing. Recommended? Yes.
L'Occitane Rose 4 Reines Velvet Hand Cream
I don't really enjoy the scent because I think it's a fairly generated scent but I like the formula. I kept this in my cosmetic bag so I bring this everywhere with me to relieve dry hands. Sometimes I also use this as body lotion if I forgot to bring one ;)
Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Apricot
I love love love this one because it gives my lips fuller look whenever I'm wearing it :) The glossy formula is not too "flashy" when worn, and it makes my lips look fuller and healthier instead. The shade is a neutral shade, it looks just like your natural lip color - but better. Recommended? Yes.
Visions Eyeliner Duo
I had this for as long as I can remember but I don't think I ever used it that much. I even forgot where I got it! This is a dual ended eyeliner in silver and white. The white is too stark for me so I only ever use the silver. This simply has to go because I think it's really really old (;p).
Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black Mascara
This is an okay mascara. If you're looking for mascara that can do what a normal mascara do, then you could try this one. It's not a disappointing product, not at all. It does its job pretty well. It's just that I've tried many other mascaras that are better than this one. Recommended? Sure, but there are better mascaras in the same price range.
So that's it for my Empties for the first month of January. In total, I successfully used up 10 full size products, 3 deluxe sample / travel size products, and throw away 1 expired product. A total of 14 products. I hope I will manage to empty more products by the end of February. There are a couple of products that I'm using right now that I'm sure I'll be finishing this month, so I hope it's a good sign :)
