This post is supposed to be up in this blog back in early Fall season around October, but as you know.. everything seems to be always late in this blog, LOL. So here it is anyway. I thought, since we don't have Fall season here in my country (only cold rainy winter season) so I always wear the same perfume during these colder months (Fall through Winter).
As a perfume enthusiast I always tried to wear all my perfumes in rotation so they get to be used instead of collecting dust on top of my vanity. So I always rotate my perfumes depending on weather, occasions, or moods. But I mostly divide my perfumes based on seasons, because there are actually perfumes that smells better in summer and other that thrives in winter.
I also rotate my candles depending on the weather, so I always changed them up when the seasons change. And without further ado, here are my rotation picks for the rainy cold winter months of 2018 ...
My picks for Fall -Winter perfume rotation this year are mostly newer perfumes that I have in my collection. In my rotation this time I only pick one of my full sized bottle and the rest are decants and sample vials. I have accumulated several sample vials so I decided to use them up before they get piled in the drawer.
All of these sample vials are ones that I've tried on a summer day and didn't feel great about it. So I decided to try it again during winter because there are perfumes that smell a bit different during hot and colder months.
The only full sized bottle I picked from my collection is the Ivoire by Balmain. This is a warm heavy perfume that smells great on evenings or Fall/Winter weather. You can read the full review here : Ivoire Balmain Perfume.
While the rest of the perfumes I picked for the rotation are :
- Tom Ford Violet Blonde (decant bottle)
- Aquolina Pink Sugar Sensuelle (decant bottle)
- Serge Lutens Chergui (miniature bottle)
- Gucci Guilty Intense (vial)
- Thierry Mugler Angel (vial)
You can read a more detailed review of each perfume that I mentioned above in my perfume blog (in Bahasa Indonesia) : Yuri's Perfume Diary.
Meanwhile, a little side note, the Tom Ford Violet Blonde, Gucci Guilty Intense, and Thierry Mugler Angel are the ones that I first tried on a hot summer day and my nose didn't like the scent. So I decided to try them out again during colder weather to see if my nose can pick up the scent better, or maybe I just don't like the scent at all.
The Aquolina Pink Sugar Sensuelle is a warmer version of the original Aquolina Pink Sugar and I have talked about it a few times here in this blog. And the Serge Lutens Chergui is a newer purchase in miniature bottle which I can't wait to try out. Actually this is a botched purchase. I originally ordered the musc one but the seller send me the Chergui instead. I thought of returning it at first but once I smelled it I thought this is such a unique scent so I'm keeping it, and if I don't like it I just keep it as collector's item instead (^0^).
Now moving on to my candle selection.
I don't have that many candles in my collection yet but I also rotate them depending on seasons and weathers. Like perfumes, scented candles also have fragrance that smells better during specific seasons. There are candles that are perfect for summer and then there are candles that smells better during winter.
I picked up three full sized candles this time and one wax melt to be used on my wax pot burner. My picks for this year's rotation are :
Better Homes & Garden Zesty Lemon Peppercorn
This is fairly new to me. I love BHG candles because their price is cheaper than BBW candle of the same jar size. But it has only 1 wick instead of 3 wicks like BBW big jar candle. This has a unique scent that maybe not for everyone's taste. I first sniffed this in summer and my nose kinda smell something weird in it, but now it's winter it smells better and perfect for kitchen area too. This is very spicy scent with a zingy undertones. A not-so-ordinary scent but it's better to burn this on winter i/o summer.

Bath & Body Works Black Cherry Merlot
This is by far THE most favorite candle of mine out of all my collection right now. This smells sooo gooood even when it's not burned. The fragrance is strong on this one, even when I just open the lid it emits a beautiful fragrance that can fill the whole room. So I don't have to lit this up because it already smells beautiful when you open the lid! This is from the White Barn and it smells of sweet and syrupy combination of Dark Cherry, Black Raspberry, and Sumptuous Merlot. The deep purple color is so elegant too!
Colonial Candle Cozy Cashmere
This is my fave to burn when it's raining outside, especially in my bedroom. I also like to burn this on my bedside table when I'm relaxing before bed, with a cup of hot tea while reading in my bed. This smells just like its name, a cozy relaxing scent that feels soft and subtle. It's a perfect atmosphere to lounge around at home when it's raining outside.
Yankee Candle Kilimanjaro Stars Wax Melt
I prefer candles than wax melt because candles are just easier to use. But wax melt is fun! So sometimes I purchased them too. I love the dark deep blue color of this melt. And the "Kilimanjaro Stars" name really makes me buy it, LOL.
"Like nightfall on the ice-covered peak, crisp, clear mountain air is laced with cool mint and earthy patchouli."
The scent notes are :
Top: Fresh Clementine, Frozen Water, Mountain Air
Middle: Fresh Juniper, Mint Leaves, Crisp Eucalyptus
Bottom : Earthy Patchouli, Siberian Pine
I think this is a very subtle fragrance. I thought wax melt suppose to have stronger scent-throw than candles but I don't think this is strong at all. Anyway, what I smell from this Kilimanjaro Stars is a velvety sweet warm scent with fresh pine lingering behind. It does kinda resembles the feeling of "sitting under the tall pine trees at night by the warm fire, while warming yourself from the crisp mountainous air."
The color is very interesting as it is a dark navy shade of blue. Overall a relaxing calming scent yet has that fresh crispiness lurking behind it. A nice one to smell during Fall or Winter nights.
That's it for today's post!
