[Fragrance] Picks : Rainy Winter Perfume Edits
7:32:00 PMIf you didn't know it yet I am a person who loves anything scented. I always appreciate a nice scent and I also love changing up my scents according to mood / occasion / weather. That's why I always have a few options of perfumes / body scents (and also home scents) in my collection. Because I like to change them up every other time ...
You can see how I love to rotate my scents here in this blog because I talked about them quite often. I have candle reviews as well as perfume reviews and also scented bodycare product reviews. I also have this series of Fragrance Edits posts where I feature my current favorite perfumes / scented bodycare / candles etc. But today in this 2018 Winter Fragrance Picks edition I would only talk about my favorite perfumes and colognes only. These are the perfumes and colognes that I pick from my own collection to wear on this drab cold season.
As you can see from the photo above I have accumulated a few perfumes and body mists these past several years, but my collection is not as many as others yet. I've never been too crazy about perfumes before, but currently I got sucked into the world of perfume and scents again after finding out about fragrantica.com and other similar websites about perfume. I learned quite a few things about perfumes lately although I'm not on that level yet where I could distinguish scents. But I want to learn more about them because I do love scented products and that includes perfumes 😀
After finding myself falling head over heels with perfume again I've been wearing them everyday more than ever. I curated my perfume collection and have also add a couple of newer ones in the form of deluxe size and samples because I want to try them out before deciding to buy them in full size. So I might add a couple of new additions to the collection in the future too (*wink).
Anyway, today I would like to share with you my perfume and body spray picks for this rainy winter season :

Anyway, today I would like to share with you my perfume and body spray picks for this rainy winter season :
As I told you above, I always rotate my scents according to weather, mood, and occasion. For cold / winter / rainy season I usually prefer more muskier or woody based perfumes, but this year I much prefer powdery notes instead of muskier woody tones.
I'm not sure why, but maybe because my taste has changed a bit, or maybe also because this season is not as cold as previous winter season so I prefer a little less deep warmer scents.
Anyway, I don't have that much perfumes in my collection yet, but here are what I mostly used during these past few months when it's cold and rainy outside :
Perfumes :
Balmain Ivoire
A gorgeous scent for evening or winter / cold rainy season, this Ivoire by Balmain is one of my go to for the dreaded cold nights. The patchouli mixed with citrusy notes such as mandarin and orange essence in this perfume makes it light enough for day wear. It also has a velvety powder notes that makes it ideal for the heavier weather like the current season. This is my pick for day perfume.
Chanel No 5
This one is eau de toilette version and everybody knows how heavy and powdery Chanel No 5 is. It is a very mature scent but also has a vintage personality to it that everyone keep resembling to old granny's perfume. To me it does smell very powdery and mature, but I think every classy and sophisticated woman would wear this perfume nonetheless as it is considered a very classic scent that resemble past glamour. Because of the heavy powdery scent it is pretty much applicable for these moody winter season or for heavy rainy weather where the sky is dark outside. This is my evening fragrance pick for this season.
Jimmy Choo Flash
For special events or dinner dates I like to wear this Jimmy Choo Flash Perfume which has light fruity notes in it with white woods base notes that makes it suitable for this season of cold rainy weather. It also has sparkling notes of pink pepper and strawberry which makes it ideal for fun dates and events. I love that it's not "too light" like a summer scent but it is "light enough" to wear for dull winter season.
Cologne / Body Mist :
Soap & Glory Girligo
I used body spray or body mist after showering. For cold season I usually would change my super light and airy Bath & Body Works or Victoria's Secrets body sprays to this one from Soap & Glory. This Soap & Glory "Girligo" Body Mist is very moisturizing as it comes in different texture compared to the liquid-y BBW and VS body sprays. The scent is very light and fruity, but the formula of the body mist is thick almost like liquid lotion, so it comes out as milky drops instead of fluid sprays, and that's what makes this ideal for cold season because of the thicker formula.
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir
I use two Jo Malone colognes this season and sometimes I like to layer them too with more light / floral scents. I usually wear colognes when I don't have plans to go anywhere or when I just need to head downstairs to the mini market or retrieve my packages. This Pomegranate Noir from Jo Malone is very spicy and exotic. So perfect for this cold weather. The scent is so unique and unlike anything I wore before 😉 Will do a more comprehensive review of these Jo Malone scents soon because I purchased a couple of vials from this brand to try out before deciding which ones I want to purchase full size (because they're so freakin' expensive so I can't have them all even if I want to).
Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay
The other cologne I wore this winter season is Jo Malone Blakberry & Bay which is also another unique scent from Jo Malone. I think it's even more "uncommon" than the Pomegranate Noir above. It's definitely not for everyone's cup of tea but if you love unique scent that would differentiate you from others than you might like this one 😉 This Blackberry & Bay cologne also has some spiciness in it, combined with musky undertones and crisp salty edge. Very edgy one I must say 😊
I will also have a separate post about my current favorite winter candle edits, but you have to wait tomorrow for that post. Meanwhile, you can subscribe to my blog (all links and gadgets are on the right sidebar) so that you won't miss any of my post :)
