[CANDLES] : New Favorite Brand

So a while ago I found this new candle brand at Ace Hardware Gandaria City. I mean, it's not a new brand, but it's just recently released here in Indonesia. The brand is Better Homes & Garden. Yup, the same as the popular interior decorating magazine name. I knew this magazine since a very long time ago, because I used to flip their pages when I was a child (my father was an architect so he had lotsa decorating magazines in his home office). So I was surprised to find out that the magazine actually has their own candle line.
Then I decided to try out this new-to-me candle brand because it was cheaper than Bath & Body Works candle. I went to different Ace Hardware locations in various malls after that, but never found the brand at any other Ace locations I visited. I think this brand might be only available in Ace Gandaria City (at the time I wrote this). Hopefully other Ace Hardware locations would also carry this brand in the future.
So anyway, the reason I talked about this new candle brand is because I tried it once and I loved it at the first sight. The bottle jar is huge, I think it's the same size as the BBW big jar. But with a fraction of the BBW price! Yes, it's cheaper than BBW. The price of a BBW big jar candle is around IDR 400,000 here, while this BHG big jar candle is around IDR 90,000. I know, right? 😉
My first try-out was the Triple Berry Freeze scent. Omagah, it smells so so nice! I love berry scents, and this one smells ah-ma-zing! It's fruity, juicy, fresh, like a berry ice cream fresh from the freezer on a sunny hot day! Just like what the label looks like on the packaging :)
Aaannd the scent is strong too. Even if unlit, the scent would linger all around the jar. So the sillage is pretty much awesome, even though it only has one wick. So, compared to BBW candles these Better Homes & Garden candles are worth it. They are cheaper, looks good, and the sillage is amazing considering they have 1 wick.
But of course it depends on which candle scents. Just like any other candle brands, not all candles were created equal ;)

Some has wicked sillage, the other has weaker scent. I purchased two more candles from Better Homes & Garden when I visited Ace Hardware Gandaria City the other day, and these two are not as strong as the Triple Berry Freeze scent.
The Zesty Lemon Peppercorn is a unique one. Not your typical candle scent this one has a lemony spicy scent, just like what the name suggests. I don't know how peppercorn actually smells but this one surely smells like an Autumn kitchen. Not suitable for summer hot days, but I think it'll be great in the Fall or colder months. I think this would be perfect for the kitchen to help masks kitchen odour. A unique one indeed!
While the Swaying Palm Leaves also has unique scent. I definitely picked up some saltiness in the air when I lit this, maybe it's a concoction of salted sea breeze, mixed with palm trees and wet damp sand. There's something bitter in it too, so it's definitely different than most candle scent. Salty, bitter, damp, and a little bit spiced. Definitely not for everybody :)
Both of these scents are strong enough unlit, and if you burn it they would definitely emit their scents around, but maybe not as strong as the Triple Berry Freeze. But I'd say these two scents pretty much has a good sillage too.
So, if you like candles and if you found any Better Homes & Garden candles try them out. They have unique scents that you might not find in other brands, so I think they are worth to collect, especially if you love collecting big jars of candles. Remember, these came at a fraction of the price of BBW candles ;) - so why not, right?
Remember, always be a responsible candle burner. Never leave them un-attended :)
Hugs n' Kissies,
