[Skincare] : THE LAB Oligo Hyaluronic Acid 5000 Toner
5:04:00 PMAs you might probably know from my previous posts, I love using toners. And if there's a skincare product that I always love to buy, it's toners hihihi... Maybe because they are usually cheaper than other skincare products, and because I love using toners, obviously...
So yay for another new toner! haha..
This is The Lab Oligo Hyaluronic Acid with 5000 Da.
The last time I talked about toners here on this blog is my review on Charis N+ Clear Toner (which you can read here). The Charis one is a spray toner and this Oligo one from The Lab is a non-spray toner. They are both Korean brand and you can get them both at Charis app / website. I will put the shopping link at the end of this post :)
Sooo.... as we’re getting older so does our skin’s ability to retain moisture (which in long term could cause dry skin and become wrinkles 🙄). So if you don't know it yet, one of the must-have ingredient in skincare is Hyaluronic Acid, which is often called “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘵”. Because it can draw 1000 times the amount of moisture for your skin.
The Lab Oligo Hyaluronic Acid 5000 Toner has won Korean Beauty Awards, and its specialty is that it contains LOW (or Very Small) molecular mass of HA (Hyaluronic Acid) - which can give deep moisturising effects for your skin.
It also contain camelia petal extracts to help protect the skin from irritations and problems caused by heat. That’s why this toner is perfect for those hot summer days when the sun hits you almost everyday, just like our weather here where the sun hits you harder because of our tropical weather.
I have combination skin, and when I first tried this toner I like the texture immediately. This is not a spray toner (which is my favorite type of toners) but rather the one where you pour the liquid into your palm and tap it on your skin directly. You can also use cotton pads with this type of toner but I'd say this one from The Lab rather has a thin watery texture so when you use cotton pads the pad would absorbs most of it and your skin would only get whats left on the pads surface. So for watery toners like this one I'd rather not use cotton pads and just pour it on to my clean palms and tap it on the face directly.
Back to the specialty of The Lab Oligo HA Toner, which is : the Very Small or Low molecular mass of HA. According to the product info the high molecular mass particles with large granules are not absorbed into the skin. While the Low molecular mass Hyaluronic Acid with small granules is absorbed deep into the skin, where it can perform its proper function.
So in short, when you need a really deep moisturising then Low molecular mass Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is the better choice. This toner will help moist your skin immediately and gives some freshness feel afterwards.
After using this for a few weeks I have gathered my thoughts around it. Overall, I really like using this for both morning and evening use, especially right after washing my face when my skin is dry and tight. This will release the moisture immediately. So when my combination skin is dry (or very dry, usually from being in an airconned room for too long and I forgot to put on moisturizer) then I would add this toner as both my hydrating as well as exfoliating toner.
Other things that I like about this toner is the light formula. It absorbs rather quickly too, and doesn't leave any sticky residue. I can go put on my next skincare product immediately afterwards. Then I also like the simple yet cool-looking packaging, I know it's not an important aspect but it looks good on my vanity 😁
As a toner lover myself I have tried and used so many toners before and not all of them I loved, but this one is definitely on my list for you guys to try out :)
