[Skincare] : CHIYOU Acne Care Product Series
7:38:00 PMAnother month another Korean skincare brand to review :)
Ever since I knew about Charis I've been finding a lot of new Korean skincare and makeup brands that I haven't even heard of before if it were not for Charis. Charis is a place where you could buy Korean brand skincare and makeup products (and occasional fashion products too) - and they ship both locally (to Indonesia) and Internationally.
Chiyou is one of the Korean skincare brand that I learned through Charis. And I fell in love (at first) with their packaging design. The bottles and tubes look so simple yet aesthetic looking. Then after I tried them for a while I fell in love with their formula too :)
This is my story with Chiyou ...
When I first got introduced to Chiyou my combination skin was in a "hormonal oily phase, complete with hormonal acne" - because it was nearing "that time of the month" a/k/a monthly period. And I was out of my acne products in my skincare vanity at that time, so I opted for these products from Chiyou that was intended for acne prone / oily skin.
I tried these 3 products that consists of an exfo toner, an acne serum, and an evening / overnight lotion. Below are the products name :
- Chiyou Succinic Acid Exfoliating Toner
- Chiyou Terpineol Double Action Serum
- Chiyou Sucral Overnight Solution Cream
After about 3 months using these products I found they all works well with my combination skin and can help me tame my hormonal acne and oily phase skin. My most favorite product out of the three is the Sucral Overnight Solution Cream. Because I like how it makes my skin feels moist and nice, it absorbs quickly and leave no residue behind.
It contains sucralfate which is 10 times more powerful than cica. It also has Jericho extract, Napal Cactus extract, and Snow Lotus extract - which are all great for antioxidant, hydration, and anti inflammation. I also find the formula is soothing and works really well in calming my acne (both hormonal acne or non-hormonal) in just overnight. In the morning I would find my acne more calmed down and sometimes even gone already! With the help of other Chiyou products of course, but I do believe that the Overnight Cream has got a lot to do with that.
I also like the Succinic Acid Exfoliating Toner because it has the most appealing packaging, LOL. Aside from the aesthetic bottle the formula is also great for my skin. I like the watery toner which actually isn't really liquid-y but still light and watery enough for my preference. It doesn't sting my skin and helps calm my skin too as well as giving it a little bit extra moisture. Succinic Acid is the mildest acid for exfoliating, so this toner would also be perfect for you who can't use AHA or BHA.
I also like that this toner helps control excessive sebum and gets rid of dead skin cells. One more thing, it also prepares the skin for the next product which is the Terpineol Double Action Serum.
Terpineol is the heart of tea tree so it is said to have 5 times the effective rate. It can relief acne and helps to calm your skin from redness. It can also helps fight harmful bacteria that gets in your skin and act as sebum control too.
I used this mainly as acne relief or when my skin gets oilier due to weather or hormones. If I had acne this serum combined with the other Chiyou products would tame it within just a few days. It's better to use it as prevention though, so whenever I sensed that an acne is coming out I would change my serum to this Chiyou Terpineol Serum so that the acne won't get to show up at all :)
I am still using this trio now. Every time I feel a breakout is coming I would change my skincare routine to include this trio. If you're interested to try Chiyou you can get them from my Charis shop via the links below :
